ORYAN PETERSON-JONES
Oryan Petesron-Jones' degree in "Music As A Cultural Metaphor," has allowed him to travel the globe with purpose; gathering instruments, field recordings, and gems of wit & wisdom. He began performing from behind Northern California's Redwood Curtain in the late nineties, developing his signature, fast-fingerpicking style while playing with the 27-year running psych-rock mavens, Datura Blues, and freak-folk ensemble, Die Geister Beschwören. While these outfits satisfy a collective effort and engage in more grandiose musical pursuits, Oryan's solo output demonstrates an enthusiasm for his studies in the field of ethnomusicology, with camaraderie towards the New Weird America folk movement and American Primitive tradition.
Oryan Peterson-Jones has performed alongside: Six Organs Of Admittance, Sir Richard Bishop, Bill Orcutt, Christina Carter, Marisa Anderson, Faun Fables, Akron/Family and more! He has toured Europe extensively and performed at a number of fringe festivals: A Thirst for Light Cascadian Summer Solstice Festival, Litha Cascadia, and Cascadian Yule Winter Solstice Festival in rural Washington, Lunasa Cascadia in the Oregon backwoods, Buddy Brown Blues Festival, North Country Fair, Humgrown Fest, Ruth Lake Summer Festival, The Future is Unwritten, Bummerfest, BPBS Fest, and the Annual (recurring) DREAMS film scoring event in Humboldt, NoFest in Portland, Žižkovská Noc in Prague, The Fanø Free Folk Festival on a soggy Danish island, and Tera Salvaria Urfolk Festival high in the Italian Dolomites. Oryan has released material on: Ramble Records, Tarkovsky Green Records, Woodland Recordings, SQRT, Reverb Worship, Tandem Tapes, AOsmosis, SunHypnotic, BPBS Arts & Media, and Electricity/Lust.
