This event is a fundraiser to support a beloved community member’s cancer treatment. So come out, shake your stuff, and show some love.

Austin Samba is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, community educational and performance group founded in 2001 by Robert "Jacaré" Patterson to bring the joy of Brazilian music and dance to Texas. We are open to the community, offering classes to beginners every year.

Our mission: “To study and perform samba and its related forms, folkloric and modern, at our highest possible level of artistry and authenticity, using this art form to build our community in the spirit of reciprocal altruism and love.”

Grupo Ladeira brings the heart-pounding beats of Maracatu and a rich mix of other popular rhythms from Pernambuco and beyond.

Rooted in the powerful tradition of Brazilian music, their performance is certain to transport you to the streets of Recife with every pulse and every beat.
