The Moonquake Shakes is an acoustic trio with deep roots in Austin. The name Moonquake Shakes refers to a milkshake sold at the iconic (now closed) coffee shop Flipnotics on Barton Springs Road, where founding members Andrew Baird (guitar, vocals) and Brandon Janes (fiddle, vocals) met Ryan Gould (upright bass) in the late 1990s. They play a variety of early jazz, bluegrass and original songs, combining harmony vocals, improvisation and Austin weirdness.
