Formed by drummer Kevin Witt, the B-Side Quartet performs a mix of deep-cuts from the hard bop jazz era, original compositions, and unique arrangements from a wide selection of genres and influences. A Texas native, Witt attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, moving to NYC in 2000, where he performed and studied at the Drummer's Collective with Peter Retzlaff, and studied drum set privately with Jimmy Cobb and Cindy Blackman before moving to Austin in 2006. Kevin has played with luminaries in the Austin jazz scene such as Bruce Saunders, Eli Haslanger, Andre Hayward, Russell Haight, Pete Rodriquez, Daniel Durham, Chris Maresh, Alison Wedding, and Terry Bowness. Kevin is a founding member of 3jazz, which included acclaimed saxophonist Philippe Vieux, which produced two records and hosted a popular spoken word series.
